Westport Artist in Residence Program
It all started when…
I became aware that the Westport Land Conservation Trust was working on renovating their property on Adamsville Road and thought it would be a wonderful place for outdoor sculpture. As the pandemic got under way, I thought it would be great if sculptors could work on pieces outdoors so that people could enjoy watching the artists in the process of making their work, as well as enjoy workshops and talks in a safe outdoor environment. So far, we have had four artists create work for the Westport Artist in Residence Program, and many of the artworks remain on site for the public to enjoy. Currently, artist Hannah Vogel has work on the new handicap accessible trail. All artists conducted workshops as well as artist talks. This program was funded by The Westport Cultural Council, The Helen Ellis Charitable Trust, Bank of America, and the Westport Land Conservation Trust.
